COVID-19, Library Services Update

Library Hours - Fall 2020Beginning Monday, September 21st, the SCC Library will be open:

                                   Monday-Friday,  8am-2pm

  • Study space and the computer lab are open to SCC/SFCC students only.
  • Social distancing will be in place
  • Covid19 Limited Library Services include:
  • Borrowing/Returning Laptops, Hotspots, & other equipment
  • Printing & Print Request Pickup
  • Reserve Textbook Copy Requests

The library has a limited number of remaining laptops for checkout. To inquire about availability, please contact the SCC Library Circulation desk at 509-533-8255, Monday through Friday, 8am to 2pm, or email questions to:

covid19resourcerequest@scc.spokane.edu 

  • Include your name, SID, and tell us which equipment you need. 
  • Library staff will contact you if equipment is available.
  • (Please do not submit multiple requests.)

 


Returning laptops, hotspot, and other equipment

Visit the library during library open hours to return equipment.

Library Hours M-F 8am-2pm.


Printing

Students may request printing in advance using the Print Request Form. 


Reserve Textbooks

Reserve textbooks and test preparation books currently do not check out and cannot be used in the library.  However, students can make an in-person request to have a portion of a reserve book copied by library staff.  Printouts will be available for pickup the following business day. 


Borrowing Books

Due to Covic-19 regulations, library books cannot be loaned at this time. 

If you need a book from the library, contact a librarian via 24/7 chat; librarians may be able to find an ebook or other resources which you can use instead.

Returning books or videos

If you borrowed books or videos from the SCC campus library, you may return them in the blue book-drop box located next to the west entrance of Building 16.

Several businesses and community support programs are offering ways to get free internet during this time.

Some are listed here, but this isn't an exhaustive list. If you need more assistance, send an email to the SCC Library Reference Desk. A Librarian will respond soon.

Research Databases
Use your Bigfoot login for free access to SCC Library databases. You'll find scholarly articles, eBooks, streaming videos, and more.

Interlibrary Loan

If you're using library databases and find an article that is not available full-text, the SCC library will get it for you electronically. Just email us or use 24/7 chat.


Spokane Public Library Resources

SCC/SFCC students can access the Spokane Public Library's digital resources. If you and your family are spending extended time at home, you may want to take advantage of SPL's extensive collection of popular ebooks, audiobooks, streaming films & television shows, online magazines, and even comics.

Contact an SCC librarian if you have questions about how to get your automatically approved library barcode.


Faculty Support including resources for migrating to online classes

Faculty librarians are happy to help you create or enhance research content in your course.

We've created a Quick Kit launchpad to where you can begin planning online integration of library services and resources.

Contact your liaison librarian directly, or use 24/7 Live Chat for immediate support.

  • Embedded media you can place in your online classes: eBooks, articles, streaming video, OER, and more
  • Embedded librarian in your online or on-ground class (Contact us to discuss adding a subject librarian as a TA or co-teaching for a period of time.)
