National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo): Fall 2025 SCC NaNoWriMo

This guide is a resource for students and employees interested in NaNoWriMo. Included are links to helpful tools that can support writers in their journey to completing a novel.

What to expect in 2025?

November 2025 will be the first time Spokane Community College (SCC) has ever participated in NaNoWriMo. There will be two components to the Fall program:

  1. Sessions that prepare students and employees for NaNoWriMo
  2. Drop-in writing sessions open to anyone who wants to write in a supportive environment

See below for the full schedule.

Fall 2025 Schedule

Here you will find the established 2025 schedule.

Welcome to NaNoWriMo! - Two Sessions

There will be two introductory events, to take place on October 14 and October 15, from 11:30am-1:30pm in the SCC Library. During these events participants will learn about NaNoWriMo and be given the tools and techniques they need to be successful in participating in writing a novel during the month of November.

Let's Write! NaNoWriMo Drop-ins - Seven Sessions

These supportive events are designed to foster a safe, conducive environment for consistent participation in NaNoWriMo. These will occur on:

  • Tuesday, 11/4
  • Thursday, 11/6
  • Tuesday, 11/11
  • Thursday, 11/13
  • Tuesday, 11/18
  • Thursday, 11/20
  • Tuesday, 11/25

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will not be a session on Thursday, 11/27. All of these sessions will take place in the Tutoring Center in Building 16 (next to the SCC Library), from 4pm-7pm. The space will include several guidelines to keep participants focused, and there will be tools and activities to help participants stay focused and inspired.

Anyone at SCC is welcome to organize their own NaNoWriMo meet-ups and writing sessions outside of the formal agenda listed above.

If you need additional support during NaNoWriMo, please reach out to the organizing group listed below.

Fall 2025 NaNoWriMo Zine

In celebration of NaNoWriMo, Librarian Greg Bem invited employees from across the college to contribute character guides for various identities, jobs, and other qualities. These writings will be compiled and put into a small DIY publication, known as a zine. As of September, the zine is forthcoming and will be released before November.
