Per request of the SCC Vice President of Instruction, SCC librarians created the following program-level, student-learning outcomes in Spring of 2021.
These describe the outcomes which students are expected to achieve as a result of Information Literacy (IL) instruction conducted by library faculty. The accompanying rubric describes levels of development and proficiency which students may reach.
The development of the library instruction program outcomes was informed by the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education as well as consultation with assessment and instruction leaders and stakeholders at SCC.
"Information literacy is the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning."
