The Chronicle of Higher Education is the premier news periodical of Higher Education in the United States. (About The Chronicle)

The print edition is published weekly. The SCC Library has PRINT editions of The Chronicle.

There is an online version of the The Chronicle which provides some free content and some that is only available by paid subscription. 

*NOTE*: As of February 2022, the SCC Library has ceased their college-wide subscription to the full, online version of The Chronicle. If you have comments or questions, please contact SCC librarians or library Dean, Jaclyn Jacot.

Ways to access The Chronicle

1. PRINT

Weekly, print issues of The Chronicle are available in the SCC Library, Spokane campus.  


2. Search for articles using SCC Library's database Gale Academic OneFile

Full-text articles from The Chronicle are available (with a one month delay) in HTML format through the library's subscription database, Gale Academic OneFile.


3. CHRONICLE website (limited access) 

The Chronicle website and social media platforms provide limited access to some full-text articles, enhanced content, job listings, etc.  

You may create an account which allows you to read 2 locked articles per month. 


4. CHRONICLE online (full access) 

To obtain a full, individual subscription to The Chronicle, SCC faculty are encouraged to apply for SCC Professional Development funds.

Which limited access content is available in the FREE version?

The Chronicle website provides limited access to some articles, videos, job listings, etc.

When using the web version, you will be prompted to created a free account which lets you access two free articles each month.
