SCC Library Instruction News: 2023 Winter

Quarterly news featuring library resources and services that support teaching & learning

Happy new year!

Information Literacy: Instruction services & Information resources

Information Literacy instruction in a variety of modes is available each quarter. SCC librarians are happy to partner with you to support students' development of critical thinking and lifelong learning about information. Contact the liaison librarian to your discipline or department, or use the library's online instruction request form.

New databases & books/ebooks/audiobooks

Check-out exciting additions to the library collection, just some of which are featured here.

MLA 9 brochure: Newly updated

We've updated our print, MLA, trifold brochure.

You and your students may stop by the library to pick-up a copy, or request delivery in your preferred mode.

Also, feel free to link students to the library's online citation guide.

PressBooks: Design and/or publish your open textbook

PressBooks is an online textbook, hosting and design tool. We at the library value OER and publishing, so are eager to help promote this eLearning-supported tool.

Sponsored by Washington State Library, SBCTC is providing a 1-year subscription for all WA community and technical colleges. (The subscription term began 11/21/2022 and will end 11/21/2023.)

The eLearning team has set up a PressBooks site and will provide support for faculty who wish to build their own textbook or ancillary materials.
